Operations and Department Manager Apprenticeship

What will I be doing?
Leadership skills are key to driving the success of a business by developing strategic aims, objectives, policies, procedures, systems and required change to maintain competitiveness.

You will be in a middle management or department management role with responsibility for other staff and the day- to-day business operation.

You will work towards the Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, which will teach you:

  • How to translate strategy to operational plans
  • Strategic change management models and processes
  • How to develop policies, procedures and business systems
  • Budget management skills
  • Staff leadership and management skills
  • Project management skills
  • How to manage business risk
  • How to manage health and safety in a business environment
  • How to optimise the use of technology

What qualifications will I get?

  • Apprenticeship Standard End Point Assessment in Operations and Department Management at Level 5, achievable at Pass, Merit or Distinction. This includes a scenario based test, a competency based interview, review of portfolio evidence, presentation of a work based project, continued professional development log review and professional discussion.
  • Pearson Level 2 Certificate in Functional Skills English
  • Pearson Level 2 Certificate in Functional Skills Mathematics

What are the entry requirements?

  • You must have recently been promoted to an operational management role or be working towards promotion.
  • You should have team leading or supervisor experience.
  • You should hold GCSE Grade C or above in English and Mathematics or equivalent.

What can I do afterwards?
Upon completing this apprenticeship, you may applied to the Chartered Institute of Management for registration. You may wish to progress on to a higher level Management programme at Level 6 or Level 7 or progress to university to complete a Post Graduate qualification, such as an Masters in Business and Administration or Masters in Leadership and Management.
